Sheffield Crucible: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz….

Take a well loved story, mix it with a plethora of talent, add in a small, but hugely adaptable theatre and you get a pretty perfect family afternoon.

Sheffield Crucible: Wonderful Wizard of Oz

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, currently playing at Sheffield Crucible, is a delight for the senses.  A treat for all ages.  Youngsters will happily clap and sing along with songs they have learnt from us older ones. The spellbinding wicked witch will terrify them in an humourous fashion, encouraging pantomine boo’s from even the most timid of guests.

Gabrielle Brooks is supberb in her role as Dorothy.  Her voice evokes pure innocence and happiness, her smiling face is a pure pleasure to behold on the stage.  I could gleefully listen to her version of Somewhere over the Rainbow every night as I go to sleep.

You will laugh at the timeless jokes, clutch your heart as it seems Dorothy is fated to stay in Oz, and then you will be warmed through for the day with the happy thought, that there is truly no place like home!

The story of Dorothy’s journey through Oz on the yellow brick road truly comes alive on the stage.  With songs not heard in the film, and additions to the popular tunes you will enjoy parts in the show never seen on the television.

The show runs until January 20th, with seats available: https://www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk/whats-on/the-wizard-of-oz

You will have an awesome time!
