Last weekend saw us piling into the car, with a picnic secured in the boot, and excited faces all round as we headed up the motorway on the short journey from our house to Warwick Castle.
Despite it being less than an hour away, we had never been before.
We would certainly go again.
Warwick Castle is a delightful day out, the experience combines history with fairy tales. Play areas with beautiful architecture and fun with eagle shows.
It has something for everyone.
We spent the day freeing a Prince from an enchanted mirror and listening to the stories of royalty inside the Princess Tower. We gaped in wonder as huge eagles and vultures soared over our heads and we giggled our way through the Horrible Histories that adorn the courtyard.
We also added to the excitement by taking an additional expedition into Merlins castle, where Owen got to play the role of Dragon Lord, and the girls watched on with envy.
