Christmas and all that jazz

So the festive season is fully upon us, dangling blinking lights hang from every other house and the vast majority of us have paid an inappropriate amount of money for a large potted plant to sit and slowly die in the corner of our living room. However as it is the time to be merry we at least send the plant out in style by adorning it with sparkles and glitter; and in our case a vast amount of … [Read more...]

Thanksgiving and blaspheming

We made it! We got through baby beautifuls blessing without either twin girl or boy shaming us and getting the entire family barred from the pearly gates. It was touch and go for a while, twin girl did start her blasphemous repetition of ‘Jesus, Jesus’ once again and the vicar did break out in a visible sweat but all was averted by a quick hymn. Truth be told we had a rather lovely day, it … [Read more...]

Nowt stranger than folk

Going on holiday this year had an interesting spin which he who helped create them and I had not foreseen before we leapt with unbridled joy onto the plane at Gatwick last week. Usually all we bring home from holiday is a couple of bags of eye watering smelly washing, a bad mood from the inevitable row waiting for the bag to come round the conveyor, a slight hangover and a few extra pounds round … [Read more...]

The Revenge of the Baby

I have hinted in recent posts that beautiful baby whilst being completely adorable is also something of a mastermind and she spends the vast majority of her days sitting quietly twiddling her thumbs contemplating how to better her brother and sister when the opportunity presents itself. Today was her day. Twin boy and girl and I finally got to feel fully confident about the school run when we … [Read more...]

Pink champagne and balloons

I thought I would be full of blogging content this evening, virtually over spilling with amusing tales. However sitting in the passenger seat whilst he who helped create them drives the long journey back from the north to south all I can do is reflect on what a fabulous day I have had.  We have been at a christening, and for anyone who doesn't know how my little angels usually approach religious … [Read more...]

Eviction notice served – it’s twin time

At 19 weeks pregnant and already the size of a pensioners bungalow I waited excitedly in the hospital for my first scan. I was tired of hearing comments on my size from everyone with an opinion, and was terrified that the sonographer would reveal what everyone was guessing, that tucked up inside my alarmingly sized bump was not one baby but two. With a squirt of jelly (the non edible kind I … [Read more...]

How to feel good about yourself

Twin boy, girl and I have been trying to understand feelings this afternoon.   They seem to have a grasp on it as twin boy likes to express his vocally at any given moment and is prone to Oscar winning performances over the tiniest thing. A refusal of a biscuit before teatime can lead to dramatic swoons followed by Oscar winning hysterics and heartrending pleas.   Twin girl on the other … [Read more...]

Handing in my notice

I am handing in my notice.  I have been doing this job for nearly five years but to be honest it is time for me to hand over the ropes to someone else. The day to day job is ok but the hours are rubbish I always do twelve hour shifts at least and the occasional night shift. Getting a day off requires diary planning beyond belief. The day must first be requested when fellow worker is in good … [Read more...]

help my blog has been hijacked

My name is Owen; mummy writes about me sometimes, this is my blog debut.  I have had to hijack mummy’s blog as I don’t know how to set one up myself – I am only four. I woke up this morning it must have been wakey up time as the sun was up but my Spiderman clock said six zero zero.  I was wide awake and bored so I wandered into mummy’s room stood really close to her nose and said in … [Read more...]

Who needs an alarm clock when…~ Northernmum

I remember when we decided to have a baby, the batteries on the alarm clock had ran out and rather than buying some new ones, myself and he who helped create them thought it would make good financial sense to have a baby which would guarantee we would never sleep past 7am again (ever). How we smiled when we found out we were having two babies, so if one new baby alarm clock failed we could … [Read more...]
