It has not been the best of days, We are ready for Christmas, the presents are wrapped, the turkey is waiting for its moment of glory and the chocolates are waiting to be scoffed. … [Read more...]
God, it’s your fault….
Dear God, Quick question. Free will, flipping genius idea, may have caused a few wars etc in the past but all in all it allows me to eat several pots of Ben and Jerrys in succession so no harm done. … [Read more...]
Who’s the Daddy…..
He has been around since the children were born in fact if you inspect his right shoulder you can see indents from my teeth from BB's labour; he has done the night feeds, he wiped his fair share of dirty bums. He struggles with feeding, he dislikes the mess; watching BB squeeze a tomato between thumb and forefinger makes him shudder visibly. The twins drive him slightly deranged at times and … [Read more...]
One of my favourite old posts: is god real?
I try and make it a rule to not lie to my kids. Ok that's a lie straight away, I tell plenty of fibs when it suits me. For example this morning I told twin boy the Easter Bunny had texted me from his I phone and was about to remove one of his easter eggs from his basket if he didn't sit and eat his breakfast nicely. However as we all know lying always trips you up and this was the case when twin … [Read more...]
Christ what a knob
I have been tagged by the lovely Tara Cain over at Sticky Fingers and Kirsten at Gone Bananas I have to answer a selection of Q and As from The Guardian Weekend magazine and then I can be categorised into either the ‘yeah you seem like a nice person, I’d go for a pint with youers’ or the ‘Christ what a KNOB! LISTEN TO YOURSELFers!' Why do I get a bad feeling about … [Read more...]
dont forget this
Things to not forget. The urgent pleas at night-time for one more kiss and 'huggle'. So often I am rushing on to the next task, to sort the house, to make the dinner, to wrap the presents. No sooner than I blink I am sure night-time huggles will erode from our relationship and I will regret the even one time I pull away from the undeniably loveliness of sharing a hug with my beautiful babies. I … [Read more...]
Thanksgiving and blaspheming
We made it! We got through baby beautifuls blessing without either twin girl or boy shaming us and getting the entire family barred from the pearly gates. It was touch and go for a while, twin girl did start her blasphemous repetition of ‘Jesus, Jesus’ once again and the vicar did break out in a visible sweat but all was averted by a quick hymn. Truth be told we had a rather lovely day, it … [Read more...]
Heaven is just a flush away
Bedtime, that beautiful part of the day when mother and child quietly say goodbye to the daytime, read some soothing bedtime stories and then the child softly drifts off to sleep as mother plants sweet kisses on their eyelids. Whoa there! Sorry I drifted off to my alternate reality for a moment the one where cream cakes have zero calories and he who helped create them has a look of George … [Read more...]
Family time on Sunday
Today was different. Now twin one and two are at school the pressure is really on me and he who helped create them to have proper ‘family time’ at the weekend. God forbid in their therapy sessions later in life they comment that we stunted their development in life by occasionally staying in on the weekend and not hitting every farm, playground, duck pond, and theme park in a 25 mile … [Read more...]
