Slapped in the face with a raw, wet kipper….

Dear teacher, I feel we have formed a bond over the last five weeks and I can move past writing to you in diary form and just address you direct.  I am here as the ghost of school days future, appearing in front of you as warning to appreciate the present and don't do as I did and waste the time you had.  You know how twin boy and girl went to stay with their nanny for two weeks and he who … [Read more...]

Parental Happiness Is….

Parental Happiness is... Exiting the house before 9am without suffering a sore throat from all that shouting. Struggling into a pair of size twelve jeans without a five year old asking why don't you buy clothes that fit? … [Read more...]

Daddy’s taking us…….

This time last week I was an exhausted wreck; it was day five of my, as the cool kids call it, staycation, and I was so weary it was obscene.  In order to rid myself of working mother's guilt I found myself spending every second either hunting fairies, assuming the role of the shark in the swimming pool, or bopping away at a children's festival or preparing yet another picnic.  Day … [Read more...]

I feel dirty – part two….

Following on from my review last week of the Vileda Power Scourer Range I have managed to keep my new-found skills of washing up hidden from he who helped create them.  I have hidden the scourers and use the dirty old dishcloth when he is about, but if my mum is popping over or one of my *cough* posher friends I whip them out and clean off the mugs and the biscuit plate.  So he who helped … [Read more...]

The Battle of the Bathroom…

I glanced at my watch, I needed to leave the house at 12.45pm and it was fast approaching 12.10pm. My bag was by the door filled with its usual goodies ranging from nappies to wipes to excess loo roll in case anyone got caught short or had a sneeze of epic proportions. I was dressed, each of the children were dressed, we were all calmly eating Omelettes for lunch. In theory nothing should … [Read more...]

Sugar Baby…..

Chocolate, Just the very word tastes delicious on my tongue.  It rolls around getting caught between syllables and leaves a sensation of heaven in my thoughts. Twin boy and girl weren't allowed to taste the fruit of the cocoa tree till they were at least three.  In fact I remember at their first birthday party watching a family member spear a piece of cake and wave it frighteningly near twin … [Read more...]
