5 Useful Free-Time Activities for Any University Student

Now that most of the classes in the university are online, there is a lot of free time that you need to put to good use. To enhance productivity in your kids life, especially during times that they are less engaged, they need to take up some activities that will bolster their studies, boost social skills and futures in general.

Basing on the specific interests they have in life, there are many activities you can suggest for your university student to partake in. Here are some of the productive activities you as a parent can suggest they try!

Learn a new language

At the university, they will realise that most of the students come from different backgrounds and demographics. However, the best thing about university is that your university kid will get to make new friends! To foster these relationships and friendships, you can push them take part in learning a language to have something in common. It is never a hard thing to start! But not only for friends, but for career ambitions its crucial to be bilingual at least! They can learn a new language from the comfort of their rooms at uni or at home, using their laptop or phones through educational apps for students such as Babbel, that offers courses for several different languages. Your university student will for sure see benefits later on if they don’t realize it immediately, but languages are the keys to the world.

Listen to TED talks

TED talks are ideal for getting motivation on life experiences and get to feed your curiosity. Most of the topics talked about in these talks are from specific subjects that matter in our lives. Some of them even help in fostering research problems in school. When you give it a try and pass it onto your kids, you will have the platform to expand your level of thinking, as well as theirs and how you all will choose to see life! These video seminars can be extremely relevant as well to what your child may be studying, they can also listen to podcasts on Spotify while studying.

Take up meditation

This is the best method to take up as a student since it is the best stress reliever. By taking a few moments to reflect on the position they are at, it will give anybody a clear perspectives on the decisions we need to make regarding our future. Meditation is not only meant for monks, rather for anyone who has the interest of being mentally in control. The best place to do such activity is at a room with no noise or a yoga studio. There’s a reason why nowadays meditation is on the rise on campuses!

Get a part-time job

Imagine your college kits spending free time doing something they love and making money at the same time! Instead of staying indoors and sleeping, you can decide suggest for them to go and take up a job at the coffee shop, the library, music store or ice cream shop, wherever they want! Through engaging in these activities, they’ll get to learn how to interact with many people. It might even give them connections with people in their field of study!

Participate in team sports

Being in sports means that you need to work all as a team and your teammates will rely on you to come to practice sessions. However, make sure that the sport your student takes on he or she likes! It can be netball, rugby, swimming, horseback riding, or crossfit. Either way, these activities are a long term commitment. Besides, these activities help in keeping anyone fit! More so, your uni kid can choose to go pro and get some money or scholarships!

University is the time to explore the many options that your kids have in their lives. It is the time to expand their reach, make lifelong friends and take up on any activity that will help their futures, apart from academics! Remember that these activities are important in shaping your kids to become the person they want to be!
