With Christmas done and dusted, we can all breathe again as our homes are managed back into some sort of working order.
I love decking the halls of my home with Christmas decorations. I love that festive feeling. Moving around a few bits of furniture and putting up the tree with the kids is always a special time.
Yet, as soon as 27th December strikes, I’m done. I want it all down.
The house is inside out, upside down, and resembles something that’s barely survived an epic natural disaster.
Nothing new has a place yet, boxes of biscuits – cheese and chocolate, we’re not fussy – litter the sideboards, and you’ve built an incredible structure from cardboard boxes in the hall.
The blue bin was full before Christmas morning. Futile.
As you start to piece your life back together step-by-step, it’s funny how you appreciate the minimalistic nature of your home. Things feel calm, clear, soothed, almost.
I don’t know about you, but this is often the time when I start to think about what little bits I can do around the home over the coming year. Whether it’s a vow to keep on top of the cleaning a la Mrs Hinch, or it’s a huge whopper of a renovation on my mind, I love to think things through during January and February, before making it happen from March onwards.
What’s more, if I have an idea in mind this early on, I can usually bag a bargain or two in the winter sales.
If you have a limited budget and you’re not sure where to splash the cash, new flooring and a lick of paint can actually work wonders. You may not have the moolah to go the whole hog and purchase a new family of furniture, but some luxury laminate and new neutrally-toned walls can give your home a new lease of life for relatively little cost.
As a head’s up, Lifestyle Flooring UK are a leading floor retailer in the UK. Whether your looking for laminate, luxury vinyl tiles, engineered wood, or solid wood floors, you’ll be spoilt for choice from their extensive catalogue of styles.
Final touches such as a plush fluffy rug and sofa throws will bring soft, natural fibres in the room for a warm and welcoming ambience.
With hard floors down, don’t forget to pick up a Vileda Vera 1.2 spray and a bottle of Zoflo.
All the best.
