I’ll be the first to admit, I have always been in the dark a little it about my credit score. Possibly because it is a little bit like getting on the scales – I am not always sure I want to know the number.
However, you probably don’t need me to tell you that is a bit of a stupid mind set.
2016 was different, I applied for a mortgage, knowing my credit score was suddenly rather important, and nerve wracking when I went from being in the dark to requesting the information.
It was ok – not perfect but ok.
Ironically the one thing that took me from being perfect was a couple of late payments on my Next bill. You know, the ones where you buy a top online and on credit and then it slips your mind to pay for it.
I could have lost out on a mortgage because I forgot to pay for a £30 top.
Be aware of your credit score people – because when you need it, you will need it to be good!

Ignorance is not always bliss when it comes to credit.
