My birthday fell on a Wednesday this year. A Wednesday.
Wednesday is a pretty dour day at the best of times, neither the beginning or end of a week. It is also the day of swimming, gymnastics and football training. It is a day that screams to be planned for on a Tuesday but is rarely given a thought until my eyes fly open on Wednesday morn.
I am not a massive fan of Wednesday’s.
However, this Wednesday was my birthday and with weekend plans taking me away from celebrating my own descent into old age, I decided to make the best of it.
We held a mid-week party.
We frolicked on a school night.
We sang karaoke….
Hell yes, you heard me right, my exclusive party, with four guests only involved a pink mike, a choice of over 20,000 songs and a laptop.
It may surprise you that I am a singer, with my online persona being quiet and retiring. But I have had Celine Dion aspirations since I was a teenager pretending to be of age on the local on Friday karaoke evenings.
There is something about a microphone that calls to me and tells me I can be a star. However most of the mikes I have held have been moderately deluded.
Still lack of talent does not stop me trying.
The party rocked, have you heard of Lucky Voice Online Karaoke? It turns any computer (with internet access) into the ultimate karaoke machine for an extremely reasonable £4.99 s month.
The kids and I are addicted, I belted out a bit of Glee, and the whole family had me in hysterics with a group rendition of Ebeneezer Good. However I had mixed feelings about hearing my seven year old singing eezer good….
BB, whose princess nature means she declines to participate in group singing, dedicated a solo version of Twinkle twinkle to me. Have a listen, it may be a mother’s love thing, but I reckon Simon Cowell may need a call.
I think we are addicted. Plans for New Year have been cemented, and I know two super-duper blogging friends who will be fighting me for the microphone after a couple of glasses of rose.
More details about Lucky Voice Online karaoke
(actual details rather than me raving about its awesomeness.)
First the price.
It is tremendously economical. Invite the girls round, get out the crisps and dips, pour the wine and turn on the tunes.
It costs just £4.99, if you register today, you can have a free trial.
Basically, the Lucky Voice Online Karaoke site is a simple, full-screen karaoke player that allows you to edit your playlist on the go without stopping the singing for a moment. The lyrics are streamed over the internet and appear on your computer in glorious full screen, while the music and your voice (when using a Lucky Voice Karaoke Kit) are amplified through your hi-fi, iPod dock, and computer or TV speakers.
You can go the whole hog like we did and get the additional Lucky Voice Karaoke Kit which includes a funky microphone (as modeled by BB in the youtube clip) and a mixer. My other half particularly enjoyed the mixer. However it is easy to just to download, sign in and start singing without the additional kit.
Here’s how it works:
- Connect the microphone mixer to your computer and speakers. Plug the microphone into the mixer
- Log on to www.luckyvoice.com/sing and use the voucher in your Lucky Voice Karaoke Kit to unlock the 31 day free trial. Then get singing from thousands of songs online
- After your free month, keep singing for just £4.99 per month
