Many stay at home mums have taken part time jobs due to the current financial climate. As a result, many have had to learn how to juggle their work with taking care of their children. Often an outside source of childcare must be obtained. However, this can be rather costly which has led some working mums to find creative solutions as they attempt to bounce work with caring for their children.
One solution is to combine different forms of childcare, work hours and costs to make going back to work more financially friendly. One solution many working mums come up with is a nanny share. This means a full-time nanny is secured by two different families. However, she spends a portion of her time with one of the family’s children and then at other time she works with the children of the other family. This can not only save money but help ensure a quality nanny is obtained.
Another way some women balance working with childcare is mixing the services of a nanny with a nursery. The nanny is used early in the day and latter in the day. The child would spend more of their time with the nursery. Generally the services of a nursery are cheaper than those of a nanny. Some women may drop the child off at the nursery in the middle of the day. They only need someone to pick the child up and care for them perhaps until the other parent arrives home. Hiring a nanny to help with this is another option for part time working mums.
Most jobs that are part time can often be negotiated as far as when the duties need to be performed. If this is the case, it may be easier for working mums to work when their spouse can be home with the children.
