When he who helped create them and I first met we saw a common streak between us.

Competitive drive.

Both of us are sales people by trade and our favourite pastime is to try and sell, negotiate and ultimately win against the other.  All the core ingredients for a successful marriage *coughs*.

We are older now and the competitive spirit still lies beneath but we lack the energy to really do the more strenuous competing.  We can be found in an evening, sitting ready to play scrabble or if we want to bring some extra spice into the relationship we can play Monopoly online at Ladbrokes.com.  Holiday’s we go mad and crack out the cards and play a little poker, no stripping involved.

The influx of the internet and evening spent glued to I Pads and smart phones playing on online games, social networks or sites like Ladbrokes means that our fiercely competitive marriage is a little subdued for the time being.  We tried playing word with friends but I spotted he who helped create them using a dictionary for two letter words and we didn’t speak for while; hence that game is banned.

We need a new hobby…

I have suggested ballroom dancing, doing a joint zumba class, and he looks at me like sprouts are growing out of my ears.  He suggests going to football games together, standing in the cold staring a men in shorts, I pooh pooh the idea without a moment’s thought.

It is our six year wedding anniversary next month, I need some ideas on a new activity for date night…
