An International Event That We Can All Embrace

Yes that’s right, today is the day to open up your arms and give lots of hugs to those you care about most, and maybe even some strangers too. Many scientific studies have been carried out into the physical effects of hugging, and strong conclusions drawn that a big cuddle can have a positive impact on our wellbeing as it helps to release the bonding hormone, Oxytocin. A Craving for Cuddles
However in spite of the healing qualities of hugs, the statistics suggest that we don’t get enough of them here in the UK. A study carried out by bear brand Forever Friends found that one in three people in the UK would like to enjoy more cuddles, yet an astounding one in ten people said that one of the reasons why they don’t have more hugs is because they just don’t come naturally to them.
Thankfully, 26% of the respondents to the Forever Friends survey claimed that they are proactive in giving out embraces to people, and so it’s on International Hugging Day that we want to encourage all those confident cuddle lovers to get close to those that are a little more snuggle-shy, and try to spread some happiness in this cold winter month!
