Disney Store: Pixie Dust on Oxford Street?

Imagine being told at five years old that you have a magical store pretty much all to yourself to explore and touch and fiddle and play to your heart’s content.

Imagine if this store was the brand new Disney Store on Oxford Street.

A little bit of Disney Wonder

When I told twin boy and girl that Tinker bell had dumped a bucket of fairy dust on us and we were off to review the new Disney store with only a handful of other children the excitement was high to say the least.

We left the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street and walked into the magical home of Mickey and Minnie and instantly were open-mouthed at the 28 feet high Castle that dominated our first view.

“Its like Cinderella’s house.” Whispered twin girl with a spot of wonder in her hushed tones.

The store is now a 100% bigger than it was previously and it aims to be  tourist attraction as well as a shopping extravaganza.

Twin Girl and Mickey

To be fair it didn’t disappoint.  My children ran like demented loons from feature to feature.

Twin girl twizzled and twirled for an hour in front of the Disney Princess Magic Mirror and she squealed in delight as Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Tiana appeared in front of her.

Twin boy disappeared quickly upon arrival in the shop and I found him in front of a giant screen where his viewing choice had been selected from over 50 clips.  The icing on the cake was when his and twin girls name appeared on the Imagination Station wishing them a very happy unbirthday. (Well it was once I explained what an unbirthday was!)

I have to confess I am a sucker for Disney, I know all the songs and dream of sparkles, glitter and fairy dust.  I love the effort the store made in order to make the trip a memorable experience for the kids.

Twin girl delighted in running around the store chasing a dream in the form of tinker bell as she appeared on the walls to defeat the Disney villains when they appeared on the Imagination Theatre.

Twin boy adored customizing his own car on the Cars Ridemakerz in fact a uber tantrum almost occurred when we had to leave to catch our train before he did his test drive.

The store has had a lot of hard graft put into it and it shows, but what also made the experience come alive

A Princess for the Day

for us was the team of cast members who made the trip a truly magical event for my children.  There wasn’t a Disney question that they couldn’t answer, and trust me twin boy asks a lot. Plus in the future the store plans to hold daily free events for children which will be headed up by the team.

To celebrate the new opening Disney has unveiled a map revealing locations featured in some of Disney’s films featured in the big smoke.  This is now firmly stuck on twin boys wall and he is waiting for the day he who helped create them takes him on a tour de London.

(I am leaving that one for Daddy!)
Thanks again to Disney who I can confirm invited us to attend a special preview tour of the store and we were given some gifts for the children to enjoy.  However these views remain those of myself, twin boy and girl; and we all thought it was awesome.

The new Disney Store is now open!
